In the UK the ISDS still organizes the National and International trials competitions. Here dogs and their handlers compete throughout the year, gaining qualifying points that may find them a place at their National trials. The top placed dogs at these National trials then progress to the International Sheepdog Finals held on the 2nd weekend in September each year. Here some 60 dogs, from the 4 countries of Scotland, England, Wales and Ireland, compete for the highest of rewards, the International Shield.
